About the Book

In May 2017 I was diagnosed with Cardiac Amyloidosis, a very rare incurable illness. On initial diagnosis I was given no hope of survival which made me think “But, I’m not finished yet, I still have things to do”. My specialist explained that there was treatment, but with no guarantees. I grabbed that hope with both hands and decided that if I survived, I would go to Africa, which was my dream for many years. This became a beacon for me to focus on during my year-long treatment and the following recovery period.

Finally, in September 2019 I went to Tanzania and fulfilled that lifetime dream to see the amazing spectacle of the Wildebeest migration, photograph the animals that are living free in their world and meet the Maasai people.
You can follow this amazing journey through the pages of this book, but it’s not just my journey from the Northern Serengeti to Tarangire, it’s also a symbol of my journey from the brink of death to recovery.
